Plants By Laurali The Goddess Nemetona Mini Field Guide

The Goddess Nemetona Mini Field Guide covers druidic magick practices, tree witchcraft, and working with fairy witchcraft, featuring Plants by Laurali. She is the lady of sacred groves, healing, protection, and the boundaries beyond the hedge.

Many years ago, I found a picture of an enchanting nature-inspired goddess and printed it up. I was immediately drawn to her. She looked like an ethereal green goddess, and looking at her picture brought me a sense of peace and serenity. It turns out that the goddess was Nemetona.

I started researching her and looking up everything I could find about her. I felt strongly attracted to her dream-like energy, an energy that made me feel safe, loved, and protected all at once. I needed to know more about her!

Next, I met her again when I found myself amidst wild orange groves in Florida, where I live. It was here that I could feel her gentle yet strong presence all around me. She is the goddess of sacred groves, after all, and I was in her territory.

Who is Goddess Nemetona? She is the Celtic goddess of sacred groves, healing, and protection. She creates sacred spaces wherever she goes. She lives in a framed picture in my new home.

In House Witchcraft: Witchy Goals For My New Home, I spoke about how she was part of my house. She not only can be found in the great outdoors, but she can also take up sacred space anywhere.

She puts boundaries and borders of protection around the home of any house witch who invites her in. If you capture her attention, she will be your friend for life. She will go with you wherever you go!

I’ve had a picture of Goddess Nemetona in several homes I’ve lived in. No matter how much I moved around, she was always on the wall in my home. She is not only a domestic goddess, but a goddess who goes far beyond the hedge!

I find that most hedge witches can draw inspiration from her, as she is associated with boundaries and edges. She will take your hand and lead you to the sacred spaces beyond the edges of our world.

Nemetona not only lives in the earthly realm, but she also dwells in the fairy realm, too. The fairy realm is where nature spirits of all kinds live, moving in and out of both worlds freely. She is highly connected to the little people!

When I think of Nemetona, I think of an ethereal, dreamy energy! She feels otherworldly somehow, but also part of this world, too. When I look at her, I feel a sense of calm growing inside of me, bringing me back from the brink of calamity.

When I pray to her, it feels like she envelopes me in a warm, gentle embrace. Her energy is warm and welcoming, making me feel at ease. She feels like home to me.

Lady Nemetona has a healing touch that’s as old as time. She practices the old ways. She creates herbal remedies from the plant spirits she finds upon the hedge.

One of the many things I love about Nemetona is that she feels like an old friend who never leaves your side, no matter how much time passes by. Once she knows you, she will always be there for you.

The Goddess Nemetona Mini Field Guide

The Goddess Nenemtona is well-known for her druidic magick practices! Druidry is a modern-day revival of ancient Celtic practices that often focus on tree spirits and nature-inspired things. It makes perfect sense that Nemetona can be found here.

The druids also believe in the magic of ancestor veneration! It is believed that the ancestors can pass down their wisdom and knowledge to you, including the old ways in which Goddess Nemetona represents.

Additionally, druid witchcraft consists of a deep connection to Mother Nature, which is something the nemeton is all about! Nemetona especially feels connected to the magic of trees and, of course, sacred groves. Nemetona is all for hiking, forest bathing, and other nature-based practices.

Why? Because if you make your way through the forest, she can lead you to a copse of trees, also known as her sacred grove. It is in the sacred groves where you’ll find great healing and protection.

If you ever feel like you’ve lost your way, you can find it with Nemetona. You only need to spend time in nature, taking your time, meandering until you find the sacred space amongst the trees.

I found Nemetona during a dark, difficult time in my life. It was a time when I felt very much alone in the world. When I met Nemetona, I realized I’d never truly be lonely again.

It was within the same timeframe that I began working with fairy witchcraft, which makes perfect sense because they are creatively linked for life. I’m convinced that the forest saved me during that dark period, and they are part of the forest, and so is Goddess Nemetona.

How to Work With Goddess Nemetona

To work with Goddess Nemetona and understand her better, I would start by buying a picture of her! If you can’t afford to purchase one, you can always print it out and keep it with you at all times. It’s important to be able to gaze upon her often, soaking in her presence.

I keep a picture of Nemetona on the bedroom wall in my home, hanging above my side of the bed where I sleep. In my old places, I kept her above my desk or in the kitchen. Be sure to let her guide you to the sacred space she belongs!

Part of being a green hearth witch is knowing where the sacred spaces are in your home. Lady Nemetona can help you with that! She is the goddess of sacred spaces, after all, and she holds a special kind of magick in the home.

I also recommend spending time in nature, especially groves and copses of trees you come across. You can feel a strong presence there. Sacred groves are her places of power!

Additionally, I’d start praying to her! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just speak from the heart. She will put you at ease immediately. She has a calming presence that soothes any anxiety or worries you may be having.

As far as altars go, she prefers that you create a sacred altar within yourself. This means doing shadow work, journaling, and any kind of spiritual work that supports you emotionally. Nemetona is all about self-care, which is individual to everyone.

As a green goddess, Nemetona prefers the colors of the earth. Green and brown are her favorite colors as they represent the earth element she resides. To Nemetona, spending time in nature is the best offering you could give her!

Goddess Nemetona Magick

When you feel ready, you can graduate to Goddess Nemetona Magick! To do so, you might like to work with the earth element and the spirit element in witchcraft. She is a mindful goddess who will take note of your efforts.

She is best used in spells of healing and protection! This means creating natural remedies that create emotional healing, as well as healing the inner child, would work best. She is particularly fond of herbal spells and remedies that coalesce.

Like the sacred self, healing must come from within! When the healing takes place in the emotional space, the physical space will soon follow. She works with the healing remedies of the wild.

Much of her healing takes place in Mother Nature, where her presence can be found easily and readily. Wildcrafting for plant material and the wood element can be a way to heal from within. She will lead you to what you need and how to use it.

Her brand of magick can also be found through food medicine. Healing foods, meaning foods that are not processed, can provide nourishment for the body, which brings about wellness. If you are a kitchen witch, you might try working with whole, organic, unprocessed foods that are preferably grass-fed or plant-based.

Nemetona magick can also be found beyond the hedge, past the borders and boundaries! Here, you can find everything you need to make a spell through astral journeying, hedge riding, and transcendental meditation.

You can also access Nemetona’s magick through breathing exercises, a regular yoga practice, and meditation! It is here where you might see the face of the goddess in your mind’s eye.

Additionally, you might enjoy working with Goddess Nemetona's animals! Her animal familiars are woodland creatures that inhabit the sacred groves she dwells in.

Goddess Nemetona Animals

Deer - Represents a gentle spirit, sensitivity, gracefulness, and adaptability! The deer animal spirit can help you harness gentle energy, kindness, and the calm and peacefulness of life.

Blackbird - Represents messages, communication, insight, and transformative energy! The blackbird animal spirit can help you communicate your emotional needs better and help you find creative solutions to problems.

Rabbits - Represent a gentle, plant-based lifestyle! The rabbit animal spirit can assist you with fertility spells, good luck, and an abundance of things you might need or want.

It’s important to keep in mind the things Goddess Nemetona is known for when crafting spells with her! She enjoys spending time in nature, house magick, and crafting spells in the kitchen. She especially loves sacred groves and secret, hidden places that are difficult to find!

The Wild Bloom Poem for Nemetona (Say 4x)

The wild bloom sets itself into a forest of its own making. Its magical properties reflect the frayed edges of yellow papered flowers.

Wandering time, dreams unfolding, it evokes a feeling of the faerie folk bedazzled by sun-soaked trees. The wind doth blow, whispered pines, unfolding magic in my mind.

Here is where a sense of belonging dances on the veins of large plant leaves made to look grounded by the pastel nature of the wildflowers on my dress. I dance, I turn, I twirl, and a pixie glides with me.

There’s this moment, in between all things, where hope springs eternal and laughter cascades the mountain tops. I felt comfort here, a sense of safety, a shelter from the razzle-dazzle of seedlings in the garden of life.

Mirror, mirror, be spoke, be broke, reflective light, and gentle soaks. A rain trickles into the bathtub of the forest gully, filling in its awesome gap of genuine complacency.

Bedecked, bejeweled, inspired hope on the vine of a winsome sparkle. The fey live here, and I live here too. Merging forest, we became one. We answer to no one, yet our voices are most true and willowy. It is here that I find home in the fairy cottage of my heart, a sense of belonging is here to stay.
