Plants By Laurali The Plant Spirits Tiny Handbook

The Plant Spirits Tiny Handbook covers communication with plant spirits, how to bond with your plant, and plant magick spells with Plants by Laurali! Plants are sentient beings that can feel things. They are intelligent creatures that make great spiritual allies!

Many years ago, when I got the first inklings of becoming a witch, I started with plant allies. I went through a period of insomnia and would sit outside with the plants on my front porch. I could sometimes see their souls, and it almost felt like they were trying to speak to me.

Now I know that they were. It was my first venture into becoming a plant witch. Working with plants, herbs, and mushroom witchcraft soon turned into a dream for me. I knew someday I would become a professional herbalist.

Currently, I’m working toward that dream, and to think it all started with working with plant spirits! Plants are the entire reason I created Plants By Laurali. We’ve got a connection that has only continued to grow as time goes on.

My all-time favorite plant is the aloe vera plant! Its energy is soft, gentle, sweet, and healing. It holds a similar energetic blueprint to the rose quartz crystal.

This was one of the first plants I started with. The aloe plant is one of my plant familars. A plant familiar protects you while you’re hedge riding, practicing green witchcraft, and assists you in working with poisonous plants.

Plant familiars assist you in magical workings full-time! They can act as a plant ward, protecting you from mischievous spirits that mean to do you harm. This includes performing plant magic, practicing hedge witchcraft, and doing magical rituals.

Plant spirits, on the other hand, become the spell itself. Such is the case with potted plant spells, wearable planter spells, and garden spells.

These kinds of spirits also work best in plant medicine. This is where you create herbal remedies using the spirit of the plant.

You can also use plant spirits to enchant nature-inspired accessories! A necklace with a real flower inside can become an amulet, a talisman, or a charm, depending on your intention.

Using a plant spirit to create a DIY botanical energy shield can help you start each day with enhanced protection. In this case, you would only use the spirit of the plant to build your energy shield.

You can also pick a wildflower and wrap it around your watch to carry its energy with you. When I visited Canada last year, we stayed at a cabin in the forest, and I would pick a daisy each day and wrap it around my exercise watch.

As you can see, there are many ways to work with plant spirits! They are living, breathing, sentient beings that know how to love you like no one can.

The Plant Spirits Tiny Handbook

What are plant spirits? They are vibrational counterparts. When you work with a plant, you also work with the spirit of the plant, as they are ensouled. This premise is called animism, where every plant, crystal, rock, and grain of sand is ensouled.

When working with lavender herb, for example, you might use it for calm, peacefulness, and relaxation. You’ll take on the energetic blueprint of the plant.

Choose your plant spirit according to the vibrational match you desire. If you so desire, the plant’s essence will rub off on you, giving you the healing that you need.

In my plant spirit witchcraft practice, I often work with the holy trinity of the herbal world. Goddess Hekate, Goddess Circe, and Goddess Madea.

Goddess Hekate is the goddess of witchcraft and herbalism. She can assist you in your botanical studies and help you craft powerful plant magick spells that are built to last!

Goddess Circe is the goddess of enchantment. Her specialty lies in herbalism, creating enchantments, shapeshifting, and glamour magick.

Goddess Madea is the goddess of working with poisonous plants. Her specialty lies in creating powerful potions and mastery in magical workings.

Working with the holy trinity of botanicals is a great way to enhance your plant witchcraft practice. They can teach you everything you need to know about herbs!

One of my favorite ways to connect with the plant spirit is to create a nature-in-an-envelope spell! These kinds of spells involve stuffing plant materials in an envelope with a petition.

You can also use an herbal envelope spell to create a kit for a natural healing remedy. In this case, the envelope should be filled with first-aid type plant materials that can fit inside it.

For example, you can place lavender herbs, chamomile flower heads, and a melatonin plant in an envelope to help cure sleeping ailments by placing it under your pillow.

You can stuff an envelope with rosemary herb, mint leaves, and thyme for memory retention during a test. These are time travel herbs. This means they can help you recall what you need to remember.

When working with plant spirits, you’ll want to work through learning plants on a one-on-one basis. I recommend starting with just one or two plants in the beginning, and working your way up to more in the future, as your practice grows.

Eventually, you’ll be called to work with specific plants that reach out to you on a spiritual level. This happens to me all the time. All of a sudden, I’ll start thinking about a plant, and intuitively know I’m meant to work with it.

When this happens, you can add your plant profile to your materia medica. A materia medica is used for the learning of medicinal substances used in plant medicine for therapeutic and healing purposes. This creates a body of knowledge for plants you’d like to use medicinally.

If you would like to include the magical properties of plant spirits, I recommend creating a plant witch grimoire that profiles the plant magically and medicinally. You can also use both if you plan to study herbalism and green hearthcraft.

Or, you can do what I do, and keep them all in one place. I’m currently working on creating a materia medica page on my website, so that students who come to learn here will be able to look up the plant monograph and find its uses.

Learning about plants is a calling. You might enjoy plants for scientific purposes, like studying them and creating plant monographs. You also might like to work with plants for a mind, body, and soul connection. Plant spirits are good for the soul!

Plant Spirit Witchcraft

  • Create a plant spirit altar or meeting place, such as in the butterfly garden or a desktop terrarium.

  • Leave plant spirit offerings to potted plants and while wildcrafting in the woods. They like honey and agave nectar to attract pollinators, as well as tiny gemstones and herbs.

  • Play music for the plant spirits in your home or garden. You can even create a plant spirit playlist of your own and dedicate it to them.

  • Create an herbal windowsill garden, and as you plant the seeds, put your intention into them. This is best done in the new moon phase.

  • Design a terrarium as a spell by putting your intention into each item of terrarium decor and terrarium plants.

  • Wear a wearable planter spell and carry it with you for the duration of your spell! Be sure to put your intention into it.

  • Always get permission from the plant spirit before plucking it from Mother Nature. Be sure to always give thanks and never take more than you need.

  • Talk to the plant spirits as you would with an old friend

  • Care for your plants and tend to their needs by getting to know them.

  • Learn the folklore and history of the plant spirits you work with.

  • Create plant monographs to refer back to in your plant research

  • Learn the personal name of your plant spirit, or give it a name of your own

How to Bond With Your Plant Spirits

  • Touch your plant spirit gently each time you walk past it to get a feel for it. Make sure it’s not a toxic or poisonous plant first.

  • Name your plant spirit and draw up adoption papers. This is a cute way to make a plant part of the family.

  • Take good care of your plant spirit. This means avoiding overwatering, plucking weeds, and occasionally adding fresh soil.

  • Carry your plant spirit with you wherever you go! Place a flower in your pocket, place a bay leaf in your wallet, and wear flowers in your hair.

  • Talk to your plant spirit regularly, checking in with them and speaking to them telepathically. Listen to what they have to say. Communication with plant spirits is essential for the relationship to grow and develop.

  • Play music that you know your plant spirit would like!

  • Give your potted plant offerings regularly, such as tiny fairy statues and garden gnomes, pretty rocks, lighting incense, and teeny tiny healing crystals.

  • Create plant magick spells using the spirit of the plant, solidifying the bond. Make sure it’s a reciprocal relationship of give and take.

  • Find a special pot to place your plant in, creating a cozy home environment. Be sure to take lighting and direction into consideration when choosing where your plant will live.

Plant Spirit Symbolism

  • Plant wards are used for protection and to create boundaries around the home. They can also ward off evil spirits and dark energies.

  • Plants can be used for sympathetic magic using objects that symbolize the plant. For example, you can use an herbal oracle card in a spell to represent the plant spirit.

  • Plants can be used for cleansing a space! Plants not only clear physical air, but they also cleanse the area of any discord.

  • Plants can be used to create a spiritual connection. Choose plants based on their essence to match the energetic frequency of the plant spirit.

Plant Spirit Offerings

  • Create a playlist for specific plant spirits and dedicate the music to them. Play it whenever you’d like to give your plant an offering.

  • Give plant spirit libations, such as moon water, eclipse water, and rainwater.

  • Sprinkle healing crystals, such as rose quartz and tree agate, into your potted plant or garden.

  • When wildcrafting, give an offering of honey or agave nectar to attract pollinators to the plant.

  • Sprinkle graveyard dirt in your garden or in a potted plant as an offering. This works especially well with toxic and poisonous plants and mushrooms.

  • Light an incense stick and place it in your potted plant to lift the mood of the plant spirit.

  • Sprinkle herbs into your witch’s magical garden or in a potted plant spell.

  • Sing to your plant spirit!

Requests to the Plant Spirits

  • Talk to a plant spirit about healing a broken heart.

  • Ask them to make a wish come true.

  • Use plant wards to protect you, your home, and your family.

  • Ask a plant spirit to help you connect with the nature spirits.

  • Pray to a houseplant spirit to heal a situation in your home.

  • Use money plants to do money magick spells.
