Plants By Laurali August Green Witch Forecast: Transitional Energy

This is your August Green Witch Forecast based on the transitional point in the year! As a nature witch, I am very in tune with seasonal shifts, weather changes, and astrological forecasts. A big part of my craft is working with monthly magic!

Through the years, I’ve begun to see the patterns and themes each month brings. Even though the planets may be doing different things each year at the same time, an overall theme tends to emerge that can help us navigate each month.

The month of August is a transitional point in the year! It often feels like nothing is happening because everything is happening underneath the surface, often in the subconscious or on a more subtle level. I consider it an in-between month, especially as it falls smack dab in the middle of late summer and early fall.

August is where you’ll find a seasonal shift happening! In some places, temperatures rise, such as where I live in Florida. Up North, things may begin to cool off slightly, and the leaves begin to turn slightly.

This month is all about being in between things. You’ll find the subconscious mind conjuring things up, and your body begins to prepare for cooler months ahead, excitedly. We are transitioning into autumn, and it will soon be closing in.

August Green Witch Forecast: The Transitional Point

What kinds of themes and patterns will we see in the month of August? Anything to do with transition, change, and transformation will be popping to the surface at this time. Again, this is a time of great transitional magic!

  • Glow-ups and makeovers

  • Preparing to go back to school

  • End of summer vacations

  • Saying goodbye to summer

  • Pagan holiday Lammas (also known as Lughnassadh)

  • Reaping the harvest

  • Seasonal foods (summer to autumn)

  • Dog days of summer (meaning the hottest temperatures)

  • Leo Season (Fire sign)

  • Transitions into Virgo (Earth sign) by the end of the month

The Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card

The Wheel of Fortune tarot card represents a specific turning point in time. Which way will the wheel turn? It’s a card of fate, change, and transition from one thing to the next. It’s also a card representing movement, as the wheel has to turn somewhere, and must always be shifting. This card is represented by the Roman Goddess Fortuna, keeper of the fates and the wheel of change!

Cicada Animal Familiar

In Florida, as well as many other places, the cicadas are known to come out during mid to late summer and in the early autumn months. This makes the cicada a creature of transition. They are sometimes referred to as “dog day” cicadas because of the time of year you can hear them chirping and making loud noises. The cicada animal spirit is a reminder that summer is coming to an end and that a new start will begin at the autumnal equinox. They can assist us through times of change and seasonal shifts with ease!

Roman Goddess Fortuna

Goddess Fortuna is the goddess of fate, the wheel of change, luck, fame, and good fortune! During the month of August, she tends to step in and start making changes behind the scenes. Sometimes, this will be at your request, and other times, she may just take the wheel and turn it for you. On the surface, it may feel like time is standing still and nothing is happening. It’s important to know that something is brewing and the goddess of fate has everything to do with it!

What is the Transitional Point?

The Transitional point is learning to accept the in-between times. There are times in our lives when everything is converging and coming together in a subtle, subconscious way.

You’re in a phase where you know something is happening just beneath the surface of things, but it hasn’t quite found a way to emerge. This is where transitional magic happens!

To use this kind of magic, you might work with deities, plants, and nature spirits that can help you through difficult transitions in life. This is also a great time to work with the planetary magick of the sun!

The sun burns things off and clarifies things. Soon, the sun will become less and less visible during the day. While it is still at its max, you might utilize its energy to heal things in your life.

The sun is most prominent this time of the year, as summer closes and says its final goodbye. The sun can best be utilized during the daytime hours and on a Sunday, which is its planetary day.

Spirits to Work With During Life Transitions

Here are some additional spirits that can help you get through the final days of summer, as well as any life transition you might be going through. Some of them are animal familiars, some are deities, and others are plants and nature spirits. You can call on them to aid you through the in-between times!

  • Sun God Lugh - Lugh is celebrated during Lammas, also known as Lughnasadh, one who brings in the harvest. Obviously, he is highly connected to the sun! The best day to call on him in August is August 1st, which is his honorary day for the harvest and Lammas.

  • Planet Sun - While the sun isn’t technically considered a planet, it is known in astrology as one of the planetary alignments. Working with the sun can highlight the changes you want to make in your life, as well as spark a glow-up! You can easily call out to the sun on a Sunday or someplace sunny and bright, like the beach.

  • Nature Spirits - The nature spirits, also known as the fairy folk, are probably the most prominent spirits you can call on during a life transition. They live in the in-between realm, also known as the lower realm, in another realm within the Earthly realm. They are easily accessible, but you have to play nice and follow their rules. You have to make friends first by picking up trash and caring for the planet. You can easily reach them on a nature walk!

  • Golden Wheat - Spend time in a wheat field or simply meditate on the magical and medicinal properties of wheat. Wheat is known for summer magic, abundance, money, fertility, and reaping the harvest. You can do money spells, transitional spells, and fertility spells with wheat magic!

  • Bear Animal Familiar - Working with the bear animal familiar can offer you wisdom, guidance, and extra protection as you transition from one thing to the next! The bear animal spirit offers us courage through transitional points in our lives. The bear spirit can also assist with any kind of money spell and warn us of dangers in money!

  • Changing Woman - A Native American earthly goddess that helps us through transitions and changes in our lives. She has also been known to help women through physical changes in their bodies such as menopause. She can assist with nostalgia and memories and get us through the dark periods where nothing is certain or makes sense. The best place to call on her is at home in nature or in a bath!

  • Moth Animal Familiar - Much like its butterfly cousin, the moth spirit is reflective of change and transformation. It illuminates truths in all the darkness. It can assist us through the changes we’re undergoing during the month of August and far beyond! Like a moth to a flame, you will find your way.

As you can see, the themes and patterns in August are all about change, transition, and transformation! This is a month of working with the subconscious mind and closing things out. It’s a time of saying goodbye to summer and welcoming in the onset of the fall seasonal shift.
