Currently, I’m going through a bit of a glow-up. My boyfriend of almost three years broke up with me after we had just started living together. Sometimes, major life events—or as I call them, tower moments—create the change we need.

Sometimes, change can be unpleasant, but necessary. Sometimes, change is forced on us, and all we can do is try to go with the flow. My serious boyfriend breaking up with me forced me to change.

I have since realized that we both needed the space to grow and work on ourselves. We still see each other regularly, as he is my next-door neighbor, but this time apart might end up doing us both some good.

Is this what I wanted? Absolutely not! The breakup was extremely painful and made me doubt myself as a person, but this breakup was weirdly what I needed.

I have changed so much as a person since this happened! It’s weird because it’s only been a couple of months, but I don’t even feel like the same person anymore. I realized how terribly unhappy I was.

In fact, this is the first time I’ve written about my breakup at all. It’s been difficult for me to talk about, let alone write about, in a public space.

I’ve been taking my business more seriously and have invested in it financially. My ex cared about me enough to ensure I was financially taken care of, and the money has helped me to make some powerful changes in my life!

For one thing, I was able to pay up all of my business expenses for the year. I was also able to make a significant purchase, such as a video camera, to start my YouTube channel. That’s the next thing I’m going to conquer!

I also invested in my education. I am taking classes to become a professional herbalist. The money covered my courses, books, and materia medica. This has been a lifelong dream of mine!

I’m working on getting in the best shape of my life. Originally, I was going to focus on weight-loss witchcraft, but decided long, lean muscles were the way to go! I trust that the weight loss will follow.

I’ve always been someone who exercises and eats pretty healthily, but during my relationship, I developed some bad habits. We would eat at fancy restaurants a lot and drink too much. There was a lot of overindulgence.

I also struggled more with working out and eating right. Since the breakup, I’ve begun to listen to my body by eating and exercising intuitively.

Some other positive changes I’ve made include addressing my mental health and my perimenopausal symptoms. I started taking Wellbutrin, a wonder drug for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and adhd, just to name a few.

For the longest time, I was totally against medication and wanted to manage my depression in natural ways. Unfortunately, in my case, it just wasn’t enough. I feel like I wasted so much of my life living in pain, now that I know the difference.

I also started taking supplements for my perimenopausal symptoms, and will probably try the patch soon. I’m in the early stages of perimenopause, but I want to get ahead of it.

Another positive change is that I began working up early in the morning again! When I met my ex-boyfriend, I began adhering to his nighttime schedule, instead of my natural early bird inclination.

Finally, as part of the healing process, I’ve been decluttering my home, my website, and every aspect of my life. Decluttering makes space for something new to come through.
